Delta Air Lines, Inc. Solution Architect in Minneapolis, Minnesota

Position is located in either Minneapolis or Atlanta.

This Solution Architect position is within the Enterprise Architecture (EA) Governance team is responsible for creating value for Delta Air Lines by maintaining a long term, integrated technology roadmap, governance model, and architectural standards that assure foundational IT investments optimally align with business objectives, and enable simplicity, clarity, and consistency throughout the enterprise. You will be engaged in discussions across our EA domains: Business, Application, Information, Technology, and Security.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES IN THIS ROLE

  • The Solution Architect will identify and translate system requirements into a prescribed architecture and design that meet business requirements and are aligned to Delta's architecture standards and principles

  • The individual collaborates within Enterprise Architecture and across Portfolio & Technology Directors, Project Managers, Project Architects, Resource Managers and Project Team members to enable the team to develop estimates, develop construction plans and prepare implementation approaches

  • Provide strategic thinking, solutions and roadmaps while driving architectural guidance

  • Maintain adherence to architecture guiding principles, reference architectures and standards

  • Optimize technology solutions for Delta business portfolios via a deep understanding of the business processes and systems for the given portfolio

  • Identifying business opportunities for potential solution development efforts and support portfolio in development strategic plans

  • Ensure architectural adherence through blueprint and design reviews and by conducting reviews throughout the development cycle

  • Assist in the remediation of application stability and performance

  • Adopt and communicate new concepts, ideas, techniques, best practices and technology assistance

  • Perform project level design, debug and performance analysis

  • Lead and execute the Architecture Review Process to shape the future of Delta IT and Business

  • Responsible for the development and production support of enterprise application utilities and models including publishing, best practices and guidelines for supported technologies

  • The candidate must work with various internal and external technical resources to drive consensus on technology solutions

  • Work with vendors and product management areas to establish required infrastructure and frameworks

  • Analyze EA business processes and distill activities to improve efficiencies

  • Create visual representations of concepts or ideas

  • Produce new or edits to technical documentation (written and visual) based upon discussions, interviews, or existing documentation and maintain a comprehensive library of technical terminology and documentation

  • Analyze documents to maintain continuity of style of content

  • Acts as liaison to develop business and conceptual requirements across EA domains

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to work with diverse set of people: from entry level to executives; and business and technology

  • Collaborate and contribute to the development and evolution of the Enterprise Architecture Practice

  • Working with Principal Architects, collaborate in research, develop and document technical design specifications

  • Maintain Delta Air Lines application and infrastructure rationalization strategies

WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR? / WHAT EXPERIENCE DO YOU NEED?

  • Candidate must have 7+ years of experience in system design and development, with recent emphasis on complex solutions crossing several business areas

  • The ideal candidate is experienced on multiple hardware and software environments and be comfortable with complex heterogeneous systems. Further, Experience in designing modern distributed application to work with legacy mainframe system is ideal

  • The candidate should have experience with building sites that integrate responsive design, personalization, and frameworks

  • The candidate must have experience in creating and leading projects through the Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and performed in a variety of different roles in that life cycle

  • The person should possess an ability to share and communicate ideas both verbally and in writing to people at various levels within the organization in a clear and concise manner relevant to each of the groups

  • Must have a high level competency in a technology area and demonstrated strong expertise in two or more additional technology areas

  • Broad system-level expertise across multiple computing platforms and technologies is required, along with the ability to influence technical direction at the department level and across multiple IT projects or technology areas

  • Experience in securing data and operational availability while proving out new approachs to technology and processes

  • Understanding and expertise in moving efforts from Innovation proofs to enterprise adoption

  • Knowledgeable on principles of Design Thinking

  • Experience with Cognitive Computing, Artificial Intelligence, and Machine Learning
