Delta Air Lines, Inc. Technical Solutions Lead - Public Cloud Platforms in Atlanta, Georgia
The Technical Solutions Lead for Public Cloud Platforms will be responsible for technical design, planning, implementation and curation of Delta Public Cloud Platform environments within the Infrastructure Engineering organization. Responsibilities include evaluation of new technologies in the Cloud platforms and automation and tooling of these environments to support DevOps capabilities. The TSL will provide leadership and direction for these technology areas, mentoring team members to drive organization maturity. The Technical Solutions Lead will also consult with development teams to ensure platform fit aligned to the business application requirements.
In this position, the Technical Solutions Lead will be responsible for assessing, designing, planning and implementing DevOps capabilities in complex, multiple application, production environments in Amazon's public cloud environment (AWS). You will provide leadership and direction in your respective technology domain, mentoring team members to drive organizational maturity. You will also consult with development teams to ensure platform fit aligned to the business application requirements.
Additionally, this Technical Solutions Lead - Cloud Platforms and Automation will aid integration of public capabilities into the Delta computing environment, including Hybrid Cloud integration of internal IaaS and PaaS platforms with selected public cloud partner environments. Knowledge of APIs, micro-services development, containers and supporting platform technologies also required. This position reports to the General Manager of Hybrid Cloud, DevOps and Solutions Engineering within the Infrastructure & Reliability organization.
YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES IN THIS ROLE
Provide technical leadership and design expertise for Public Cloud (AWS) integration
Define standards and patterns for when and how to efficiently leverage public cloud environments
Lead automation of public cloud integration processes and tasks
Serve as a technology advisor to major projects and programs leveraging public cloud capabilities
Ensure requirements are consistent, complete and operationally defined
Lead development of Public Cloud Usage Statistics and Reporting dashboards for account owners
Develop frameworks and tools to enable dev teams to leverage authorized AWS services
Partner with the DevTools team to develop and deploy a CI/CD pipeline leveraging tools such as Gitlab, Maven and Jenkins
Lead automation development using Ansible or CloudFormation to support acceleration of application delivery into AWS
Ensure Security-by-Design is a foundational component of every app deployed into AWS
Ensure enterprise monitoring standards are applied to each AWS app deployment
Responsible for creation, management and upkeep of Intranet FAQs, User guides and Knowledgebase, standards and build documents including DR plan for the enterprise
Develop and maintain consistent systems & platforms architecture standards
Provide leadership in identifying new concepts, ideas, techniques, and technology assistance (best practices, guidelines and design patterns for supported technologies)
Perform cost benefit analysis to determine best system architecture via software, hardware, internal cloud, externally hosted or other defined model
Mentor engineering and development staff on public cloud integration design and hygiene, driving quality, consistency, resiliency, security and supportability into designs
Partner with peer Infrastructure teams to provide enterprise class public cloud integration and capabilities
Design and maintain standard templates, reference architectures, and design patterns that aid other TSLs in development of standards-based designs
WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR? / WHAT EXPERIENCE DO YOU NEED?
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science and/or 7-10 years of experience in Security Engineering, DevOps or IT Operations roles, strong familiarity with the principles of DevOps and Agile development
Candidate must have 3-5 years of recent, relevant public cloud adoption and integration experience
2+ years of hands-on experience securing cloud applications and infrastructure (AWS strongly preferred)
Deep understanding of public cloud infrastructure and services in AWS (IAM, VPC, KMS, CloudWatch, Systems Manager, S3, RDS, Route53, Lambda, AWS Config, etc.)
Proven record of accomplishments in major enterprise level projects
Experience in design of complex distributed systems environments
Demonstrated ability to think strategically about business, product, and technical challenges
Experience in cloud native architectures and micro-services design
Experience building and securing infrastructure as code using CloudFormation, Ansible, SAM and/or similar tools
Understanding of software development lifecycle models, as well as the approaches to implement the AWS Well-Architected Framework
Understanding of the shared responsibility model in AWS
Fluency with one or more scripting/coding languages (e.g. bash, Python)
Experience implementing and leveraging the logging and monitoring solutions
Relevant security and AWS certifications are a plus but not required
3+ year's in infrastructure and or network support
3+ year's experience in software development lifecycle, TLM tools, and API integration
Experience with various configuration management tools such as Ansible, Chef, Puppet Tereform or SaltStack
Experience troubleshooting network-related issues such as DNS, HTTP and TCP/IP
Experience with Infoblox IMAP, F5 Big-IP Local Traffic Manager and Cisco ACI.
Experience with log aggregations tools such as SumoLogic, Splunk or Elastic Stack.
AWS Certified Professional
Ability to clearly communicate and present to various levels of the organization
Strong organizational and analytical skills with attention to detail
Independent and self-motivated and very thorough worker
The ideal candidate will also have demonstrated experience in the following: Delta's technology and application strategies, application development methodologies, hardware/software deployment, business requirements analysis, test systems management, or technical support
