How you'll help us Keep Climbing (overview & key responsibilities)

Delta’s Fuel team is responsible for lowering Delta’s fuel cost through maximizing profitability of our refinery. This position is responsible for the strategy and marketing/procurement of liquefied petroleum gases and intermediate blendstocks/feedstocks for the Monroe refinery as part of the Delta Fuel Team. You will work closely with the Optimization team and Monroe refinery personnel in order to properly optimize all downstream units while conducting commercial activities that include (but is not limited to) negotiating purchase and sale agreements, scheduling and market analysis. You will also work with the various departments within the Supply and Trading team to understand the logistics and market impact of our business decisions.

  • Liaise with internal and external schedulers/traders to ensure on time sales/deliveries of feedstocks to Monroe refinery.

  • Gain full understanding of our supply logistics and have a thorough understanding of how the refinery operates and where constraints exist.

  • Build and maintain commercial relationships, while evaluating business opportunities in the Northeast and abroad for potential trading opportunities.

  • Develop and present trade ideas and supply opportunities to management.

  • Work closely with Monroe personnel regarding inventory levels and constraints.

  • Develop and support business development ideas to assist with the optimization of the refinery.

  • Research and analyze performance of current business as well as identify new potential opportunities.

What you need to succeed (minimum qualifications)

  • 3+ years of experience in Contract Negotiations, Energy Management, Supply Logistics, Finance, or other highly analytical experience.

  • Embraces diverse people, thinking and styles.

  • Demonstrates that privacy is a priority when handling personal data.

  • Job availability is 24/7 due to deadlines, job responsibilities, interaction and involvement with the Monroe organization.

  • Travel will be required in this role (up to 25%)

  • Where permitted by applicable law, must have received or be willing to receive the COVID-19 vaccine by date of hire to be considered for U.S.-based job, if not currently employed by Delta Air Lines, Inc.

What will give you a competitive edge (preferred qualifications)

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Engineering, Supply Chain or related field is preferred.

  • Demonstrate excellent communication skills while being able to build and maintain commercial relationships.

  • Ability to work in a trading desk environment with exposure to shifting priorities, tight deadlines and expectations that multiple projects can be managed concurrently.

  • Highly proficient in supplier communications, negotiations and conflict resolution.

  • High level of initiative in managing your workload, including identifying critical business issues for analysis, structuring projects and implementing change.

  • Proficient use of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
