Delta Air Lines, Inc. Senior Network Engineer - Routing and Cloud Platforms in Atlanta, Georgia

The primary role for the Senior Network Engineer is planning, designing and delivering robust solutions in support of Delta's regionalized Cloud, Internet, and MPLS network strategies. While also integrating them into Delta's existing legacy WAN architecture and design. This position is responsible for designing, testing, implementing, and supporting routing within both core and regional network infrastructure. This position provides consultation and direct technical support in life cycle planning, problem management, integration, and network configuration. The Engineer is also responsible for project planning and designing network routing solutions to meet business requirements. This includes documenting current and future requirements, planning analysis, project design, cost, and level of effort estimation for project implementation. Additionally, this position successfully develops and leverages vendor relationships to deliver network products and services. Ensures network performance and reliability meet enterprise objectives for timely service restoration and tuning. Works with the Enterprise Architecture Team to develop and define network architecture which incorporates standards, practices, processes, and products for the enterprise. Travel may be required approximately 10% of the time.

The ideal candidate will have deep technical expertise and expert knowledge of BGP, iBGP, OSPF and/or eVPN. Candidate must have proven experience in routing and network design for the AWS or Azure to account for both Corporate cloud presence and externally hosted SAAS applications. Additional cloud platforms are a plus and will be considered. Candidate must be self-motivated, team oriented and must possess strong interpersonal and presentation skills. The following skills and experience are desired of this candidate:

Required Qualifications:

  • 5-7 years' experience in a senior network engineer/architect role within a large regionalized WAN environment

  • Expert knowledge in one or more of the following: BGP and iBGP. OSPF and eVPN a plus

  • Experience in design and implementation of routing strategies for regionalized WAN access.

  • Experience or good understanding of design and implementation of direct connections into Cloud providers AWS, Azure, SAP, etc.

  • Strong overall Routing & Switching skills

  • Experience with Cisco routing platforms ISR and ASR.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced knowledge in SDWAN solutions

  • Experience with L4-7 services integration in regionalized WAN environment (Palo Alto and F5 are a strong plus)

  • Experience with B2B VPN and External Access a plus.

  • Understand datacenter networking fabric topologies and common architectures deployed, both Layer 2 and Layer 3 based

  • Familiarity or experience with architecting and operating micro-segmented environments

  • Familiarity or experience with network automation or programming with Python

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Demonstrated leadership of large complex projects

  • College degree in a related field or equivalent experience

  • Active Cloud or Cisco certifications are a plus

  • Experience in the transportation industry is a plus
