Delta’s Employee Communications and Positive Employee Relations team is growing as we build a world class internal communications organization that keeps Delta people at the forefront of all we do. We’re looking for strategic, collaborative communicators who like to help create new processes and systems, while using innovative tools and tactics that inform, inspire and mobilize Delta’s 75,000 employees to help us be our best for our customers.

The Senior Manager – Employee Communications, HR, will develop communications strategies and tactics that support HR’s strategy and vision to inform, educate, inspire action and engage Delta employees around the many functions, benefits, programs and services offered by the divisions of HR. The position will work very closely with HR’s senior leadership team and HR program leaders to ensure coordination and alignment on the execution of major employee-facing HR projects and initiatives. The role reports to the General Manager – Employee Communications, HR.

Responsibilities include:

  • Leading the creation of strategic communications plans and strategies and overseeing and supporting tactical communications execution that support HR business goals across multiple internal divisions, including Global Talent Management, Total Rewards, HR Service Delivery, and other HR functions.

  • Serves as a strategic communications counsel for HR leaders, positioning them as thought leaders and advocates for Delta people.

  • Utilizes previous experience developing and maintaining constructive relationships with and providing counsel to senior-level business leaders, as well as uses writing and storytelling expertise and the ability to effectively reflect a leader’s individual voice while aligning it with Delta’s.

  • Manages relationships with print, graphics and video partners that provide communications support.

  • Manages complex, fast-moving and unexpected communications challenges.

  • Uses communications analytics and employee feedback to measure effectiveness of communications, draw insights and make necessary recommendations for improvement.

  • Consistently looks to establish new reliable data sources to measure communications effectiveness.

  • Develops both strategic and tactical plans that create a safety-conscious environment resulting in employee safety and wellbeing.

  • May be required to act as company spokesperson with external media

What you need to succeed (minimum qualifications)

  • Minimum of five years of employee/internal communications-focused experience including day-to-day relationships with executives required.

  • Must have excellent writing skills, with the ability to think and communicate clearly, formulate a clear point of view on complicated issues, and create a concise and well-written narrative.

  • Must have experience developing creative, effective approaches to difficult communications challenges.

  • Must have strong analytical and negotiation skills.

  • Must have the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of management and front-line employee groups.

  • Must have a strong working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook, along with the ability to become competent in Delta’s web publishing and email software.

  • Must have a high degree of initiative and the ability to manage multiple tasks, work under pressure and meet deadlines as required.

  • Must be flexible in dealing with changing priorities.

  • Must be performing satisfactorily in present position.

  • Must practice safety conscious behaviors.

  • Where permitted by applicable law, must have received or be willing to receive the COVID-19 vaccine by date of hire to be considered for U.S.-based job, if not currently employed by Delta Air Lines, Inc.

What will give you a competitive edge (preferred qualifications)

  • Multi-media experience is preferred, and social media experience is a plus.

  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism or related field.
