Delta Air Lines, Inc. Regional Manager, ATL Catering Ops in Atlanta, Georgia

The On-Board Service (OBS) team is seeking a talented and proven business leader with operational experience to function in the role of Regional Manager - IFS Catering Ops. The successful candidate will own and drive all aspects of IFS catering performance and own all OBS related activity within the hub city. Additionally, the Regional Manager will manage specification and product changes, oversee flight attendant engagement within the hub, maintain cross functional department relationships, and represent OBS in the respective hub city. The position will provide direction and guidance to a diverse team that supports a growing and dynamic catering operation.

Primary Responsibilities:

Meet or exceed all performance metrics for KPIs, including D0, MI-19, aircraft damage, GIR, and all regulatory metrics, budget, and catering processes and procedures. Maintain knowledge of and ensure compliance with all government regulatory agencies standards including methods and regulations driven by Delta, TSA, CBP, HACCP, USDA, and FDA. The Regional Manager will be responsible for:

Own and drive the station's catering operations performance and the QC process; understand, champion, and adhere to the catering operational model, including P&L.

Have subject matter expertise of technology to ensure best use of tools in food production, beverage assembly, and transportation.

Review and drive specifications to staff a resource in the Hub Control Center on a daily basis.

Manage specification and product changes, and drive flight attendant engagement related to catering at hub and spoke locations.

Define a consistent communication plan to proactively design changes to ensure strict adherence from International Catering team.

Align changes with routine communication with the International FA base by cultivating relationships and advising of upcoming changes within the catering spec.

Schedule monthly "Surprise & Delight" meetings to highlight food and bev offerings at the base. Ensure involvement from various leaders within the Catering organization.

Maintain routine visibility & communication with flight attendants, field base leaders, and ACS stakeholders to ensure OBS priorities, changes, and needs are supported across the organization.

Create short vignettes that serve to educate the frontline for safety and procedural adherence.

Serve as a SME, POC, and liaison between IFS field operations and OBS leaders.

Provide written communication on a monthly basis to drive awareness of best practices and initiatives.

Monitor and measure compliance to DL operating rules via key metrics and milestones for the operation.

Hold twice daily performance reviews with vendor leaders to drive accountability.

Create a schedule for SAFA's to audit key flights/markets on a weekly basis.

Ensure compliance to audit procedures which drives the quality metrics.

Represent the hub and its performance at all QBRs, MPRS, and other meetings and develop plans/strategies to ensure achievement of all objectives.

Interpret and report performance metrics to key stakeholders (internal & external) to drive accountability and escalate performance degradation in a timely manner.

Drive compliance to inventory reporting & process requirements via Delta Clarity.

Lead the coordination and implementation of IFS initiatives with key stakeholders. Influence without authority to achieve desired operational changes.

Lead change management exercise when specification changes occur.

Serve as POC for the caterer in the event escalation of concerns.

Drive solution-based recommendations and improvements to ensure integrity and success of the catering operation and its processes.

Qualifications:

Bachelors in Operations Management, business disciplines, industrial engineering or similar required. MBA preferred.

Minimum of 5 years relevant work experience required, or MBA plus minimum of 3 years relevant work experience required, or minimum of 7 years of relevant work experience required without a Bachelor's Degree.

Substantive experience in Theory of Constraints based project implementations alongside demonstrated leadership experience and ability to influence through persuasive communications skills can substitute for Bachelor's degree in certain situations.

The successful applicant will have 3-5 years of demonstrated leadership experience, strong communication skills, and background/interest in operations.

LEAN/Six Sigma, or Theory of Constraints background strongly preferred. Green Belt Certification, training, or willingness to become Green Belt certified is required.

Project management experience and analytic skills are required.

Strong candidates will display an interest in transformational change, leadership growth, and a track record of servant leadership and ability to influence without authority.

Green Belt, Black Belt, Theory of Constraints certifications or equivalent experience preferred.

Understanding of process and metric correlation, and the ability to influence without authority and work in a matrix environment is desired.

Advanced computer, analytical, organizational, written and verbal communication skills highly preferred.

Must be a strong team player, detail oriented, and perform well under pressure. Ability to diagnose functional area constraints, strengths and weaknesses and develop recommendations for improvement is highly desired.

Must also convey professional image with ability to lead, manage, and communicate to all levels of associates in a team environment.

Ability to effectively communicate and manage changes relevant to the integrity of the operation.

Travel is required.

Must be performing satisfactorily in current position.
