How you'll help us Keep Climbing (overview & key responsibilities)

Program Manager (PM) will be responsible for on-going execution of Delta's Internal Evaluation Program. The IEPM will be responsible for program oversight of occupational safety programs and will continuously evaluate and assess business processes to ensure alignment with Delta’s Safety Policies and Procedures Manual (SPPM). Partners with divisional managers to evaluate and assess divisional safety policies and the compliant execution of such policies. Identifies potential improvements in the workplace to drive improvement in personal safety metrics (injuries) and the associated policies and procedures. Develops and implements those improvements when requested by CSSC leadership.

An IEP is a fundamental element to ensure compliance with external regulatory requirements, identify non-conformance to internal company policies and procedures, and identify opportunities to improve organizational policies, procedures, and processes.

Summary of responsibilities (not Comprehensive of all tasks).

Policies: Review the design and documentation of key corporate and divisional programs and assess their compliance with underlying regulatory and business requirements. Identify gaps and non-compliance and partners with process owners to ensure that they are corrected within the confines of the approved change approval processes. If requested and agreed to by CSSC leadership, develop and implement the improvements necessary on behalf of the process owners.

Hazard Identification: Evaluate program operations using existing Safety Assurance System (SAS) tools, and other standard tools to evaluate effectiveness and conformance to regulatory and company policies.

Program Assurance: Analyze data from the activities at an operations-level in addition to departmental and program-level perspective to assess risk and implement effective corrective and/or mitigation strategies. Develop and implement new accountability tools and assessment methodology to drive safety performance.

Interface with internal and external customers at all levels, including executives and senior management.

Compiles, interprets, and analyzes safety data to identify key causal trends and risks as needed

This position reports directly to the General Manager – Safety Systems and Compliance, and has primary focus on occupational safety management compliance.

What you need to succeed (minimum qualifications)

  • Bachelor’s degree, and airline experience (strongly preferred)

  • Proven experience in program and project management, previous experience evaluating and auditing processes, documenting findings and conducting follow up audits

  • At least 8 years of experience in scheduled commercial air carrier operations, should have a strong background in operational processes with specific in-depth knowledge and experience in one or more of the following areas: Technical Operations, Flight operations, Ground handling, In-Flight Service and/or operational Control. Ability to recommend new policies and processes, create required documentation, publish and execute change management for policy roll out with divisions. Must possess sound decision-making abilities as well as analytical and organizational skills with the ability to handle several projects simultaneously

  • Should work well under pressure, be detail-oriented, meet deadlines and exhibit excellent organizational skills.

  • Should possess exceptional computer skills with experience in Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, LMS, and have aptitude and desire to increase these skills or learn new systems.

  • (If transferring internally)Must be performing satisfactorily in present position.

What will give you a competitive edge (preferred qualifications)

  • Work experience in an operational business unit, developing safety processes and executing safety strategies at the front-line level. Formal evaluator training. OSHA compliance training.

  • Quality certifications ASQ CQA, CQM/OE.

  • Familiarity of advanced operating systems in knowledge worker environments; such as critical chain, theory of constraints and lean production
