The Interiors Engineering department implements new passenger cabins and supports the reconfiguration of Delta's cabins as an effort to improve our passengers' overall experience. Within Interiors Engineering, the department is comprised of 2 teams: Cabin Avionics and Cabin Design. Interiors Engineering is currently seeking a Principal Engineer, on the Cabin Avionics team, to support the design, development, and integration of cabin systems, such as, but not limited to, In-Flight Entertainment Systems, cabin lighting systems, and cabin communication systems.

The successful candidate(s) will serve as a Principal Engineer on the Cabin Avionics team whose roles and responsibilities will consist of, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Drive reconfiguration projects for Cabin Avionics by supporting strategic and tactical initiatives, focusing on integrating cabin components and systems into various aircraft fleet types for both prototype and production installations, aligning with the company’s strategic mission to enhance the brand

  • Formulate interior reconfiguration specifications for applicable aircraft in Delta’s fleet to aid in the development of cabin reconfigurations, new interior/cabin products, and approaches to product integration

  • Participate in design review meetings to collect information and organize documents for the creation of engineering documentation for major/minor cabin reconfigurations, ensuring compliance with policies, procedures, and regulations

  • Implement effective time and task management skills to meet project deadlines and ensure proper coordination with internal and external customers

  • Knowledgeable in the following areas:

  • 14 CFR 25 & 121 regulations

  • Airworthiness Directives (AD) Compliance

  • The Supplemental Type Certification (STC) Process

  • CFR’s and DOT regulations pertaining to the cabin interior

  • Use of Aircraft Technical Manuals (AMM, CMM, IPCs, WDMs)

  • Instructions for Continued Airworthiness (ICA)

  • Application of Safety Risk Management in technical applications

  • Emergency Escape Path Lighting Systems

  • Aircraft Power Systems

  • Electrical Load Analyses
