The Pilot Learning Experience Manager is responsible for the leadership of two Program Managers, three Instructional Designers, and various vendor’s management for pilot
technical and non-technical learning design for instructor-led training, on-the-job training, eLearning, and train-the-trainers. This leader has overarching responsible for the design, development, and distribution of pilot technical, mandatory, recurrent airline pilot training and non-technical training, such as New Hire, Leadership, and Facilitator training design.
This role joins an established and nurturing learning team responsible for managing pilot learning requests that start at concept proposal and follow through to completion using
sound Instructional System Design (ISD) processes. Close coordination with the compliance and safety teams ensures that government and corporate requirements are met. This role is responsible for leading and improving the group's schedule for the complete content development lifecycle and maintaining/updating associated processes. This role also leads pilot leadership strategy of formal and informal learning solutions. This position maintains awareness of leadership learning industry trends and sound instructional design methodology. The successful candidate will have passion and experience in learning curriculum design and working closely with his or her team, SMEs, and learning solutions vendors to develop a variety of learning solutions, including, but not limited to: instructorled, face-to-face, instructor-led live virtual, leader-led, and asynchronous learning.
The successful candidate should be experienced and comfortable presenting to senior leadership and making recommendations as appropriate. This role provides an exciting opportunity to influence learning strategy for all pilot curriculum outside the flight deck. This position contributes to the production standards for all digital content and is aligned with Flight Operations training and operational performance objectives. A successful Learning Experience Manager will partner with peers and cross divisionally on
strategic projects and support change management activities within Flight Operations. This multifaceted role is part of the Flight Operations Learning Leadership Team and will collaborate with all divisional and cross-divisional learning leadership in the ongoing strategy of pilot training.
Successful influence, partnership, and decision making requires close collaboration with divisional stakeholders such as Flight Standards, Aircrew Records, Quality Assurance & Compliance, Training Planning, Training Standards and the Digital & Ops Info teams. Coordination with corporate IT, Supply Chain Management, Finance, Safety, Security, Compliance, Legal, Communications, Enterprise Learning, and other operational business
units is essential to aligning learning effectively and efficiently. External interactions also includes vendors, contractors, auditors, labor organizations, and regulators.
Summary of Responsibilities (not comprehensive of all tasks):
Responsible for the development of highly engaging and interactive learning solutions using industry standard eLearning software.
Apply advanced adult learning theories into practical, application-based learning design and development with the ability to convert strategies to effective and engaging learning experiences.
Possess the ability to work in a team environment to design, develop and build blended learning experiences.
Acquire and apply new technology skills to instructional design practice.
Partner and collaborate with other learning professionals and business partners in delivering a consistent learning experience.
Develop comprehensive measurement strategies for all learning solutions to demonstrate business impact and effectiveness.
Communicate effectively in visual, oral and written form and deliver engaging
Be a thought leader in instructional design and innovation.
What you need to succeed (minimum qualifications)
Minimum of seven to ten years of work experience as a people leader of highly capable teams

Experience working in an agile (SAM) and waterfall (ADDIE) design environment seamless ability to incorporate generational & cultural considerations, varied concepts, techniques and theories of adult learning principles into learning strategies
Excellent verbal and written communication skills - professional presence

Practical experience using Instructional Systems Design (ISD) methodologies
Proven previous people leadership and coaching competencies

Able to handle day-to-day work challenges confidently, demonstrating flexibility,
strong collaboration skills, and change management expertise

Intermediate or Advanced skills with Microsoft Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
Ability to balance multiple priorities and tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision

Undergraduate or graduate degree in Adult Learning/Learning & Development/Training
Industry Professional Certifications such as: Adobe Certified Expert (ACE) SAP - Certified Application Associate/Professional (SuccessFactors), Association of Talent Development (ATD), Certified Professional in Learning Development (CPLP)/Certified Professional in Talent Development (CPTD), Project Management Institute (PMI), Project Management Professional (PMP)
Strong project management background
Experience with aviation-related learning content
Practical knowledge of learning development tools such as Captivate, Articulate Storyline, Lectora, or LCMS
Experience with compliance training
Graphic design and visual communication skills
Understanding of Learning Management Systems (LMS), Content Management
Systems (CMS), and Learning Content Management Systems (LCMS).
Practical knowledge of technologies and standards such as HTML5, JavaScript, CSS, XML, and SCORM
Proficiency required in a broad range of digital multimedia applications and technologies.
Experience with Smartsheet, MS Visio, MS Project, and Adobe Acrobat.
Experience developing technology-based training or performance solutions.
Practical experience developing content for technical training subjects.
