Delta Air Lines, Inc. Line Operations Intern in Atlanta, Georgia

JOB SUMMARY:

The interns will work at Delta's World Headquarters in Atlanta, Georgia. This is a paid internship, including additional privileges such as standby travel anywhere in the Delta system while off duty. Each intern will be assigned individual duties; however, all interns will be cross-trained and expected to work as a team. Due to the large volume of projects, each of the interns will learn about the industry and gain valuable life experience. Most duties are Flight Operations specific, and will be extremely valuable to anyone with the long term goal of becoming an airline pilot. As a Flight Operations intern, you will have opportunities to work on projects such as: charter flight planning, management pilot applications, assisting with the organization of training classes, etc. Interns will be trained in operating the 777 or 7ER simulator in order to conduct simulator tours for various charities and high value customers. Each intern will also be exposed to other departments, such as: Flight Safety, Operations Customer Center, Technical Operations, In-Flight Service, Communications, Line Operations, Labor Relations, etc.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

Intern candidates must be enrolled in an undergraduate degree program with an aviation discipline, have a competitive GPA, and be in good academic standing with your university. An intern should also have a minimum of 150 hours, and be actively pursuing either a Commercial Pilot Certificate or a Certified Flight Instructor Certificate (CFI). The ideal candidate should have their CFI, or near term aspirations to become a CFI. They must possess excellent communication skills, be able to process complicated issues quickly, and maintain confidentiality when dealing with sensitive information. Due to the technical nature of some projects, interns must demonstrate a competency in skills that include, but are not limited to, simulator tours, the collection and analysis of flight planning data, reading and summarizing new regulations, and the ability to quickly relate to the advanced jet environment. A viable candidate should be actively engaged in a student organization and in their community. The candidate will need to have a comprehensive knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Access, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Smartsheet.
