Department 589 is responsible for manufacturing process effectiveness, machine tool and equipment repair, CNC programing, and precision measuring equipment testing in support of Delta TechOps. Our highly skilled staff consists of industrial electricians, calibration and dimensional inspectors, welders/fabricators, machinist, manufacturing technicians, and technicians specializing in programmable logic controllers (PLC), hydraulics, and CNC machine maintenance and repair.
The Lead Manufacturing Technician provides leadership to technicians who develop tools or repair processes, implement designs or integrate machinery, equipment, or computer technologies to ensure effective manufacturing processes.
The successful candidate will provide leadership to technicians to ensure a safe, compliant, and highly coordinated operation in a team environment to industrialize or improve repair processes. Required to coordinate the proper allocation of personnel under their jurisdiction to accomplish the overall goals and priorities of Delta and their customers. Conduct crew briefings, prepare and administer front line employee evaluations, solve technical and personnel issues, communicate and support company policies, and handle administrative action. Support departmental goals through KPIs. Have the ability to work and communicate with all levels of management. Associate Degree in Manufacturing Engineering Technology or Society of Manufacturing Engineers (SME) Manufacturing Technologist certification preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Leadership experience is preferred. Excellent verbal and written communications skills with good interpersonal skills required. Experience with compliance to and documentation of AS9102 First Article Inspection requirements and periodic surveillance audits is preferred. Candidate must possess strong analytical skills along with a strong technical background in maintenance practices, organization and procedures. Should possess strong knowledge of Six Sigma and Lean concepts. Candidate should be able to demonstrate exceptional leadership, work well under pressure, act in a timely manner, and handle multiple tasks with continually changing priorities. Familiarity with various computer software programs such as Word, Excel, and other relevant software programs is preferred. Must be able to confirm conformance of finished work to specifications, using measuring instruments such as CMMs, micrometers, calipers, dial indicators and gages. Can identify workmanship defects and deficiencies and can initiate program changes as required, adjusting settings or controls to produce changes in equipment or materials such that output conforms to set standards or tolerances. Should be highly motivated, self-disciplined and able to plan, organize and work well under deadlines to a high degree of accuracy with minimal supervision. Ability to work rotating or fixed shifts as needed. Must maintain compliance with all applicable FAA and other government regulatory agency requirements. Must be preforming satisfactorily in current position. Must practice safety conscious behaviors in all operational processes and procedures.
