How you'll help us Keep Climbing (overview & key responsibilities)

The Industrial Design Engineer III will work with both Integration and IFE business units within DFP. The goal is to identify develop and design compelling products for worldwide airline customers. The Engineer will collaborate within our cross functional engineering and product development teams to develop aircraft cabin interior products that differentiate both DFP and its partner airlines from the rest of the aviation world.

As Industrial Design Engineer III you will be responsible for:

•Must scope projects, tasks and schedules with minimal input and direction.

•Must understand the needs and desires of our worldwide airline customers and passengers.

•Must have the ability to manage time and deliverables of multiple design projects through various phases of design.

•Must explore a wide variety of compelling design options through sketching and renderings.

•Must have the knowledge to understand and apply future trends in brand, design, technology, and materials.

•Create 3D CAD models for product visualizations, development and prototyping.

•Must have excellent verbal, visual and written communicate skills to guide necessary concepts and ideas.

•Collaborate with Marketing, Design and Engineering leadership to translate strategic business goals into relevant product solutions.

•Must have the ability to take a sketch idea into creating technical drawings for mock-up prototypes as well as hands on experience both building and working with builders to produce the mock-ups.

•Work with internal and external teams to create, perform, and document customer experience workshops and surveys.

•Practice safety-conscious behaviors in all operational processes and procedures.

What you need to succeed (minimum qualifications)

•Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university in Industrial Design, Product Design, or related field, and have a minimum of 8 years of experience in Aviation Interior Industrial Design. Equivalent work experience may be substituted.

•Proficient in using 3D CAD software and 2D/3D rendering software.

•Must be organized and an effective project manager, presenting good communication skills and a professional appearance.

•Must have excellent verbal, visual and written communicate skills to guide necessary concepts and ideas.

What will give you a competitive edge (preferred qualifications)

•Experience with SolidWorks 3D CAD, Rhino 3D, Adobe Creative Suite, and Keyshot rendering software.

•Ability to rapidly explore a wide variety of product concepts and styling options through hand sketching and digital form studies (spatial, colors, finishes, materials, etc.).

•A passion for design, technology and developing creative solutions.

•A creative leader and visionary with the experience to develop a sketch idea into technical working solutions – hands on model making skills is a plus.

•Must be team oriented, possess a positive attitude, work respectfully with others and open to continually learn.
