How you'll help us Keep Climbing (overview & key responsibilities)

  • Operating in a highly regulated environment, the Flight Training Developer role provides support for internal and external audits, continuous improvement initiatives, formal research projects, incident investigations, and validations to ensure alignment of courseware with approved curricula.

  • Successful Flight Training Developers use a strong working knowledge of aviation regulations, related guidance material, corporate requirements, state, and local laws governing Delta's pilot training programs.

  • This role will analyze multiple sources of data to determine training program effectiveness and efficiency and summarize results in formal reports. With larger projects, LDIIs assist with the creation of comprehensive design documents, development plans, implementation plans, and evaluation plans.

  • Administrative responsibilities include maintaining formal documentation of government and corporate programs, an electronic Program Audit Data Base (PADB), and a training recording/certification system.

  • Content creation responsibilities include the development of instructor guides, syllabi, and Learning Objectives Documents.

  • Flight Training Developers serve as a knowledge resource on adult learning theory, instructional methods, compliance requirements, and change management processes. \

  • Innovation is part of the role as this position helps contribute to the development of new training concepts, techniques, and standards by using Instructional Systems Design (ISD) methodologies.

  • Flight Training Developers assist in investigations to resolve complex problems requiring organizational, procedural, or policy decisions.

  • Occasional travel required (less than 10%).

  • Practices safety conscious behaviors in all operational processes and procedures

This position is based in Atlanta.

What you need to succeed (minimum qualifications)

  • A degree in Education, Instructional Systems Design, Aviation, or equivalent work experience

  • Experience using Instructional Systems Design (ISD) methodologies

  • Minimum of two years of training-related work experience

  • Project management experience

  • Experience working with technical training subjects

  • Experience with compliance training

  • The ability to communicate effectively (written and verbal) with internal and external stakeholders

  • Capable of balancing multiple priorities and tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision

  • The ability to work effectively in both a team environment and independently to meet project schedules

  • Basic or Intermediate skills with Microsoft Outlook and Word

  • Consistently prioritizes safety and security of self, others, and personal data.

  • Embraces diverse people, thinking, and styles.

  • Possesses a high school diploma, GED, or high school equivalency.

  • Is at least 18 years of age and has authorization to work in the United States.

What will give you a competitive edge (preferred qualifications)

  • Commercial/Airline Transport Pilot, Flight Engineer, Certified Ground/Flight Instructor certificates or military equivalents

  • Experience designing, developing, or teaching aviation-related subjects

  • Knowledge of Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs) and associated guidance material

  • Familiarity with the FAA Advanced Qualification Program (AQP)

  • Experience with training program and compliance auditing

  • Experience with content management systems (CMS)

  • Proficiency with Smartsheet

  • Basic to intermediate skill with Microsoft Excel, Visio, PowerPoint, or Project

  • Experience using Adobe Acrobat.

  • Basic or intermediate skill in Adobe FrameMaker or similar authoring platform

  • One or more of the following professional certifications:

  • Association of Talent Development (ATD) Certified Professional in Learning Development (CPLP)/Certified Professional in Talent Development (CPTD)

  • International Society of Performance Improvement (ISPI) Certified Performance Technologist (CPT)

  • Project Management Institute (PMI) Project Management Professional (PMP)

  • American Society for Quality (ASQ) Certified Quality Auditor (CQA), Certified Quality Improvement Associate (CQIA), Certified Quality Process Analyst (CQPA) certification
