Delta Air Lines, Inc. DFP Project Leader, Master Manufacturing Scheduler in Atlanta, Georgia

This is a position for employment at a Delta Air Lines wholly-owned subsidiary, Delta Flight Products; not Delta Air Lines.

JOB SUMMARY: Under the direction of Production Management, the Project Leader - Master Manufacturing Scheduler is responsible for the creation, prioritization and continuous update of the master manufacturing schedule.

  1. Work with supply chain planning, production planning, engineering and production management to capture all current and upcoming product demand and create optimal production schedules.

  2. Coordinate with engineering, purchasing, and management to identify and mitigate risks throughout the program.

  3. Chair meetings with the production planners and production supervisors to ensure the shop flow is continuous and smooth and ensure delivery schedules are met.

  4. Create and manage the production planning schedule to the business plan, shipment plan and inventory plan.

  5. Work with the continuous improvement leader to create and report production KPI's.

  6. Provide commitment dates to the PMO group.

  7. Provide input on operating plans S&OP process concerning volume and capacity.

  8. Manage load leveling and bottleneck using Theory of Constraints for accurate scheduling.

  9. Analyze production floor status through input/output reporting.

  10. Understand capacity management relationship to MRP.

  11. Determine available capacity before planned orders are released.

  12. Identify relevant trends and improvement opportunities, then develop and coordinate corrective actions.

  13. Promotes a culture of safety by monitoring self and others to assure all duties are performed within the guidelines

  14. Perform all other duties assigned by Production Manager.



  1. Six (6) years of experience in a scheduling role in an engineering to manufacturing planning role is required.

  2. College degree preferred, or equivalent work experience required.

  3. Must demonstrate knowledge of program and production management processes and manufacturing throughput.

  4. Must be self-starting, detail-oriented and an effective planner. Must also have specific knowledge of engineering workflows, configuration control and change management. Demonstrate a practical approach to problem solving.

  5. Must be able to effectively coordinate with internal and external customers and suppliers on technical issues pertaining to engineering drawings and manufacturing processes.

  6. Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  7. Must demonstrate good computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.

  8. Experience with ERP forecasting, planning, production scheduling, and shipping functionality and processes.

  9. Experience with quoting/pricing and manufacturing methods.

  10. Experience utilizing lean/six sigma principles.
