Delta Air Lines, Inc. DFP Production Planner, Manufacturing in Atlanta, Georgia

This is a position for employment at a Delta Air Lines wholly-owned subsidiary, Delta Flight Products; not Delta Air Lines.

JOB SUMMARY: Under the direction of the Production management, the Production planner in conjunction with the Production Supervisor is responsible to plan, schedule, report, and maintain production flow in the production shops throughout the manufacturing process.

  1. The Production Planners will receive Job Travelers for manufacturing within DFP's ERP plant for Articles that are decided by the Project Planner to be fabricated at DFP.

  2. The Production Planners work with the Manufacturing Engineer and Project Planners to arrange any corrections that are needed, to operations or bill of materials on job travelers.

  3. They will work with the Production Manager and Shop Supervisor to schedule work flow, release Jobs, as well as print pick tickets to ensure parts and materials are pulled from the warehouse to support all production activities.

  4. The Production Planners will notify Project planners and purchasing of any part or material shortages identified during production.

  5. Duties also include auditing all completed Job Traveler operations for completion and verifying all parts on the bill of materials have been issued and issued correctly.

  6. They will provide status reports of job Travelers and parts shortage to the Shop Management.

  7. The Production Planners are the focal point for creating and updating capacity forecasting for all shop floor activities.

  8. Must be willing to help Management with special projects or Continuous improvement projects

  9. Must be able to read, write, and speak English fluently with a good understanding of proper grammar and spelling.

  10. High school Diploma or equivalent required.

  11. Four year undergraduate degree preferred, although not mandatory

  12. Previous experience with Manufacturing scheduling as well as MRP and/or ERP systems is desired

  13. Experience scheduling manufacturing work in a multi-process manufacturing operation

  14. Previous experience in a manufacturing supervisory role is a plus

  15. Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate with internal customers both verbally and in writing.

  16. Must have proficient computer skills with an excellent knowledge of Microsoft programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access) and familiarity with EPICOR and/or other computer driven operational support applications.

  17. Must possess strong problem solving, organizational, and time management skills.

  18. Must have the ability to work well under pressure/deadlines to a high degree of accuracy and be able to perform in a fast paced, high stress work environment.

  19. Must be willing to work extended hours, weekends and Holidays when needed to support the delivery schedule.

  20. Must have the ability to work under minimum supervision and develop proactive solutions.
