Delta Air Lines, Inc. Data Scientist, Operations Decision Science in Atlanta, Georgia
The Operations Decision Science (ODS) team at Delta provides decision support across all major operations divisions using advanced analytics including machine learning and optimization. ODS is establishing a joint research lab with North Carolina State University (NCSU), focusing on AI innovation. The goal of the team is to use the most cutting-edge AI research to develop models and solutions aimed at continually advancing airline performance and decision making.
An ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in machine learning, statistical analysis, and data story telling. The candidate should have excellent organizational and communication skills, capable of learning and applying new technical skills, and feel comfortable in a fast-paced environment. The role will be based on Atlanta, GA with 10% travel to Raleigh, NC as needed.
Working close with NCSU in develop machine learning solutions for complex business problems
Help implement emerging technologies and identify efficient and meaningful ways to disseminate data and analysis in order to satisfy the business' needs
Advance company-wide understanding and implementation of AI technologies as well as best data science practices, leveraging learnings from the lab
Practices safety-conscious environment resulting in employee safety and well-being
Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Operations Research, Computer Science, or equivalent combination of education and experience (Master's and PhD's preferred)
Proficiency in working with relational databases (SQL)
Proficiency in Machine Learning techniques (Python, SciKit Learn, R, SAS and other machine learning platform)
Working knowledge in deep learning technique/platform (TensorFlow, Keras) preferred
Working knowledge of distributed computing platforms (Hive/Hadoop/Spark) preferred
Working knowledge of API Consumption preferred
Strong written, oral communication, and interpersonal skills
Strong project management, organizational, and prioritizations skills
Must be able to interact and collaborate at all levels within Operations Analysis & Performance, OCC, cross-divisional working groups, and outside entities
