A communications role that partners collaboratively and cross- functionally to advance Delta's reputation as a loved, customer-centric consumer brand driven by a values-led, employee-focused and innovative culture. Develops and carries out communications strategies and tactics based on business goals and direction from their manager. Develops and maintains a good understanding of company's business goals and ecosystem, including the industry, global trends, macroeconomic changes, and regulatory changes. Identifies and advises on risks. Develops impactful, audience-based communications and ensures all communications align with Delta's mission, brand strategy, reputation goals and core messages.

A successful individual will be creative and adept at employing a variety of communications tactics including media and influencer engagement, storytelling, multimedia communications, thought leadership and events. Seeks data to analyze communications impact and adjusts to continually improve results. The role also involves developing messages for and staffing leaders on key communications issues/events/interviews, contributing to internal and external communications channels and serving as a spokesperson for the airline. Practices safety conscious behaviors in all operational processes and procedures.

Skills and Competencies

  • Should possess a bachelor's degree in communications/journalism or related field as well as corporate/employee communications and media relations experience.

  • Must have excellent English-language written and verbal communications skills. Language fluency in addition to English a plus.

  • Strong analytical, strategic thinking and negotiation skills preferred.

  • Must have a high degree of initiative and the ability to manage multiple tasks, work under pressure and meet deadlines as required.

  • Effectively builds relationships within the organization to help achieve business outcomes. Leads business partners and staff and achieves consensus and results even without positional authority.

  • Has solid understanding of benefits and options among traditional, digital, social and emerging media.

  • Should have the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of management and front-line employee groups.

  • Should possess strong project management skills.

  • A working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook is essential.

  • Must be flexible in dealing with changing priorities and demonstrate resilience, flexibility, and tenacity.

  • Some travel required.
