Delta Air Lines, Inc. CNC Programmer Machine in Atlanta, Georgia
The CNC Programmer/ Prototype Machinist develops programs for computer-based, numerically controlled machine shop equipment performing unique and innovative operations for 3, 4, and 5 axis CNC vertical and horizontal machining centers. Produces machined parts by programming, setting up, and operating a CNC machine; maintaining quality and safety standards. Specific Responsibilities of the CNC Programmer - Prototype Machinist include but are not limited to:
Must be proficient in reading and comprehending mechanical drawings and schematics; interpreting geometric dimensions and tolerances (GD&T)
Performs first time set-ups to ensure tooling and program design is efficient as possible
Work with tooling designers to create work holdings and fixtures which can reduce cycle times and improve part's finish and quality
Selection of proper tooling, speeds, feeds, depth/angle of cut, for optimum material removal on very complex, tight tolerance components
Starts and observes machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of- tolerance machining and adjusts machine controls, programming, or control media as required
Practices safety-conscious behaviors in all operational processes and procedures.
Experience with CAD systems such as CREO, CATIA, or SolidWorks - Macro/Variable and traditional CAM programming.
Experience with Okuma, DMG, or Mazak horizontal and vertical milling centers preferred - Experience working with Siemens and Fanuc controls.
Candidates with the ability to program Fanuc robots for a variety of industrial applications and/or CMM equipment (specifically Camio software) will also be of consideration.
Must have minimum of four years verifiable experience as a CNC programmer and possess the following: Two year degree or Diploma in - Machine Tool Technology or CNC Technology from an accredited college or university preferred - Two year degree including Metrology/Inspection or related fields will also be considered.
Must be able to pass an extensive background check, drug screen and fingerprint check
