How you'll help us Keep Climbing (overview & key responsibilities)
DUTIES:
Oversee and ensure compliance with import and export rules, with a particular focus on Mexico. Play a critical role in the protection and risk management of Delta’s imported and exported goods. Conduct regulatory and administrative oversight and certify that goods are being transported in a manner compliant with the proper laws and regulations. Ensure that all internal Delta business units conduct proper compliance behaviors. Leverage preferential duties and trade agreements and identify and mitigate risks to the business. Prepare and consult for possible regulatory audits with government agencies and protect Delta from any possible trade legal issues and fines. Examine and analyze new tariffs and anti-dumping restrictions, countervailing duties, or similar trade restrictions in order to incorporate them into Delta’s best practices and review the overall volatility surrounding international trade and abandoned goods. Maintain the business’ international trade reputation by creating, maintaining, and ensuring compliance with an export playbook that provides regulatory restrictions and necessary data points. Develop a Mexico compliance manual for our U.S. personnel that will prevent seizures of Delta’s imports into Mexico (primarily parts) which in turn will keep the operation from shutting down due to lack of parts. Create and maintain the proper regulatory documents specified by each nation necessary for the business to perform international trade. Work with Latin American-based customs brokers to promote clear and concise customs entries while monitoring inbound and outbound shipments for proper customs duties and taxes. Work with Latin American Maintenance, Repair, and Overhauls (MRO) to clear exported products with customs correctly and quickly and troubleshoot delayed cargo issues due to customs clearance issues. Perform compliance regulatory studies for the Latin American region alongside regulatory reviews and report any changes or updates. Promote the use of duty savings programs, and format and control process flow to allow for specific Harmonized Tariff Schedule use. Promote best practice behavior and ensure compliance based on regulations documented by each nation with which the business conducts trade. Regulate and oversee Mexico Shipment Operations, MRO Operations, and lead all business unit correspondence and meetings. Telecommuting permitted: two days per week.
