Summary

The role of Operations Analysis & Performance (OAP) is to support this mission by providing strategic insights through the use of analytics and partnerships with the operation. Analysts will be asked to creatively solve operational business problems to meet customer needs. This role specifically supports Delta's $3.5B maintenance organization (TechOps) and requires the ability to build and influence relationships with both divisional leaders and frontline employees to generate and implement system oriented solutions.

We are looking for outside-the-box thinkers who enjoy thoughtful debates about how strategy, business process improvement, and analysis impact the way Delta reliably serves its customers.

Responsibilities:

Analysts work alongside experts in the aviation industry to contribute across a diverse selection of strategic projects with measurable impact to Delta's operations. By leveraging both data and industry experts, you would acquire an understanding of current system constraints and process optimization. As an example, you may be asked to help TechOps limit the likelihood that an aircraft is to cause an operational disruption. This type of learning instructs strategic coordination of how Delta's reliability functions compliment future network schedules, enabling the highest measure of reliability for our customer wherever their travel needs may take them. Insights have even been used to drive the improvement of core aircraft reliability, action the insights of customer cabin survey analysis, and determine optimal placement of Delta's resources to optimize our network schedule.

This team also integrates aforementioned analyses findings into the annual goal setting processes and Monthly Performance Reporting (MPR) process to ensure focus remains on shared goals to drive continuous improvement back into the operational division. Components of the team are responsible for analyzing demand streams that drive work across maintenance stations or extracting data from a variety of sources for use in reporting. Lastly, the team also supports more ad hoc, dynamic analytic requests based on business needs.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Science, Business/Management, Mathematics/Statistics, Economics or other relevant quantitative field required and 4+ years of experience in analysis, information science, data visualization, or other relevant quantitative field OR Master's degree and 2+ year relevant experience required

  • Desire to gather cross-divisional knowledge and leverage this to drive change

  • Must be comfortable working in group and individual settings and routinely presenting to leaders

  • Functional experience in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint

Preferred Qualifications :

  • An understanding and experience with SAS, SQL, Python, R or other database interface tools and languages

  • Track record of seeking roles of influence and impact in the work place and/or within student and community organizations

  • Experience developing statistical analyses and modeling including Linear Regression, Segmentation, and non-linear predictive (e.g. logistic) regression

  • Previous airline experience
