Delta Air Lines, Inc. Additive Manufacturing Operator in Atlanta, Georgia

The successful candidate will work within the Additive Manufacturing department to:

Program and operate metal laser powder bed fusion machines, polymer selective laser sintering machines, fused deposition modeling machines, stereo lithography machines and other new technology machines such as may be acquired in the future to 3D print metal, plastic and composite parts

Operate post processing equipment as required to remove support material from the printed parts and to improve the surface finish of the parts. Such equipment includes, but is not limited to, band saws, pneumatic hand held cut off wheels, grit blasters, vibratory and slurry polishers, caustic baths, organic solvent baths, and miscellaneous mechanical and electrically operated hand tools

Operate powder recycling, mixing, analysis, characterization and quality control equipment

Also be willing to learn to operate any equipment that is purchased for the AMC such as tensile, fatigue and creep testers, Hot Isostatic Pressure furnace, scanners and CT scanner.

Ensure the safe and proper operation of above machinery. This includes completing preventive maintenance on the assigned machines, executing Delta and OEM provided maintenance programs and maintaining documentation of the same

Troubleshoot common causes of errors and machine malfunctions and interface with manufacturer or reseller's technicians

Maintain build logs in a database with details of machine parameters used to print parts and back to birth data on raw materials used

Provide assistance to the engineers in designing support structures and 3D print/build plans to maximize efficiency and quality

Document process implementation and qualification activities for additive manufacturing operations in accordance with Engineering Test Plan and/or First Article Inspection Report (AS9102) requirements

Prepare inspection reports to monitor critical dimensions on manufactured parts

Work in compliance with documents approved for the repair station

Provide additive manufacturing related information to others through open dialogue.

High School diploma or equivalent is required

Must have good mechanical ability with above average problem solving skills and the ability to work independently in a variety of environments

Must have basic computer skills, including MS Office

Must have verifiable 2 years minimum experience as a metal laser or electron beam powder bed fusion machine operator; experience as polymer SLA or FDM machine operator will be a plus

Familiarity with 2D and 3D CAD software packages such as GrabCad, Magics and PSW/EOS Print packages to load jobs on the machines is required

Must be proficient in reading and comprehending mechanical drawings, schematics and other complex technical manuals with no assistance

Experience with the design and manufacture of tooling and fixtures for machining and other industrial processes is desirable

Familiarity with AutoCad or SolidWorks is desirable

Possession of CNC Technology diploma and/or an Additive Manufacturing Technician Certification/ 2-year degree in manufacturing technology/ industrial systems technology/ machine tool technology or other similar discipline certifications is desirable

Familiarity with 2D and 3D CAD software packages such as GrabCad, Magics and PSW/EOS Print packages to load jobs on the machines is required

Must have the ability to work without close supervisory direction and to complete the job without assignment of tasks

Must meet the physical requirements which include the ability to lift at least 70 pounds
